Hymn 6 ~ a song of repentance of pride

Cleanse my heart, Oh God/ How wrong it is/ How ignorant I am to its filth/ But I’ve seen a glimpse/ Your mercy has revealed/ The rottenness and pride lodged deep inside/ The sewage and swill...

Bear Fruit ~ an original song by Sarah Gerstenberg

You may make New Year's Resolutions. You may even follow through past this week and past this month. But if it is not of eternal value, it doesn't really matter in the end. "While bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." - 1 Timothy 4:8 So instead, saints, let us strive to bear fruit for the Lord. Let us wholeheartedly pursue Him. Let us thank Him that he disciplines us as sons. Let us revel in His love as we abide in Him.

Hymn 5 ~ Run Toward You

My heart is cold/ Stagnant, plodding, old, / Why my God? Have you left me? / My passion deadened / I survive another day / I don’t have time to pray

Using the term "Sodomy": Is it appropriate?

Recently a friend of mine made a point to correct someone to use the term “sodomy” instead of “homosexuality”. This sparked a conversation, since I have not chosen to use that word. Her point was that God's law is good, and we need to name sin for what it is – breaking God's law. Moreover, “sodomy” is the term that the Bible uses to describe this sin, so that is the word we should use....

The Body of Death (Dragons in My Head)

Before the Throne/ Naked and bare/ No garments of worldly array/ No make-up, no grooming/ No last minute fine-tuning/ No preparation for this Day/ And all I hold - What I bound on earth /- this that's bound in Heaven still/ Paths taken, things given/ For what I have striven/ And people I loved with true will/ This is all..../For when unveiled/ These shallow endorsers/ Are skeleton figures - /So really: none/ For I returned to the poison/ Again and again/ And killed off my graces/ One by one/ What have I left to give for my ransom?/ Me – a strung-out bum?...
